Shawan Downs, located in Northern Baltimore County, is a premier equestrian center, featuring a state-of-the-art steeplechase course. Established by the Land Preservation Trust, Shawan Downs is situated on 300 acres of former farmland in Cockeysville, Maryland. It was founded to preserve the landscape’s agricultural legacy while building a new tradition of equestrian events that benefit local charities.

The Latest

Another successful year has been completed at Shawan Downs. Beginning with the Green Spring Valley Point to Point in April and culminating with the Legacy Chase weekend in September, Shawan Downs hosted more visitors than ever before — many of which were visiting the property for the first time. We’re already hard at work planning the 2012 season and look forward to seeing you at Shawan Downs!

Land Preservation

The Land Preservation Trust, Inc. assists Baltimore County landowners in protecting their land for future generations by facilitating voluntary conservation and agricultural easements. The Trust demonstrates its commitment to the stewardship of the land at Shawan Downs a first-class equestrian center and steeplechase course owned and operated by the Trust.
