The Legacy Chase!

On Saturday, September 29th, Shawan Downs was once again the home of The Legacy Chase, hosted by and benefiting GBMC HealthCare. The Legacy Chase has become an annual social event; marrying the excitement of steeplechasing with the beauty of the countryside. There were some exciting changes to this year’s event which proved to be great additions to this annual tradition. The 2013 event will be held on Saturday, September 28th. Conditions

As Shawan Downs’ signature event, the Legacy Chase, features multiple steeplechase races that award $50,000 in purse money. This first-class event is as much about the live music, wine tasting and family-friendly fun as it is about the thrill of steeplechase racing. Whether you spend a couple of hours or the whole day celebrating the fresh air and picturesque setting, you will be sure to have a great time.

Legacy Chase Ticket Options

Tickets for the 2012 Legacy Chase

Premier Finish Line Box | $1,000 per box

SOLD OUT

Get up close to the horses as they cross the finish! The Premier Finish Line reserved box includes two Finish Line parking passes, two General parking passes, 8 chairs, a table with linens and 4 paddock passes. Meals are not included. Guests may bring their own picnic or choose from one of the delicious catered packages from Classic Catering. Box holders are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2013 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Availability is extremely limited.

Finish Line Box | $500 per box

SOLD OUT

Cheer for the jockeys as they run down the stretch. A reserved Finish Line box includes one Finish Line parking pass, two General parking passes, 8 chairs, a table with linens and 2 paddock passes. Meals are not included. Guests may bring their own picnic or choose from one of the delicious catered packages from Classic Catering.Box holders are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2013 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Availability is extremely limited.

No golf carts, mopeds, dirt bikes, 3-wheelers or other motorized recreational vehicles are permitted.

Wine Tasting Event | $125/$250 per person

$125 Standard Tasting/$250 Reserved Tasting. Includes lunch and spirits in a Hospitality Tent and one Founders Hill parking pass. The Wine Tasting will be held from 11:30am-1:00pm and will feature some fantastic wines. Get your tickets now to be a part of this fun-filled and delicious experience. Find Out More

Railside Parking | $350/$450 per space

Includes one parking spot ($350) or two parking spaces (cars will be parked end to end) ($450) located railside on the backstretch and turn. Parkers are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2013 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Limited spaces are available.

Backstretch Parking | $35 per pass

Includes parking in the Backstretch lot and admission to the event for the carload of guests — you only need a pass to park on the grounds, no admission fee beyond parking.

General Parking | $35 per pass

Includes general admission and admittance to the GBMC Picnic Area. Price includes parking and admission to the event for the carload of guests — you only need a pass to park on the grounds, no admission fee beyond parking.

Children's Area | $10 per child

Join us in the Children’s Area for some fun family activities. Open from 11:00am-4:00pm, this area if sure to please! Check out the Planned Activities.

Stick Pony Race

The G. Leslie Grimes Memorial Stick Pony Race is a highly anticipated event and is a fan-favorite for the kids and the audience. All children 8 and under are invited to become jockeys and must provide their own stick pony. Don’t have one? One will be available for you to use on Race Day!
