The Legacy Chase!

On Saturday, September 24th, Shawan Downs hosted the 11th Annual Legacy Chase to benefit GBMC HealthCare. The Legacy Chase has become an annual social event; marrying the excitement of steeplechasing with the beauty of the countryside. Save the date for 2012 - Saturday, September 29th!

As Shawan Downs’ signature event, the Legacy Chase, features multiple steeplechase races that award over $75,000 in purse money. In addition to racing, the day features The Meadows, a fantastic family-friendly destination that includes children’s activities, food concessions, live music and much more.

Legacy Chase Ticket Options

Tickets for the 2012 Legacy Chase will be avialable beginning August 1, 2012.

Terrace Finish Line Box | $1,500 per box

Enjoy the day at the races with your guests in your reserved, open air box, just feet from the finish line! The reserved box includes two Finish Line parking passes, six Steeplechase parking passes, 16 chairs, a table with linens and 4 paddock passes. Meals are not included. You may bring your own tailgate or enjoy a catered lunch by The Classic Catering People (catering information available soon). Box holders are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2012 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Availability is extremely limited.

Premier Finish Line Box | $1,000 per box

Get up close to the horses as they cross the finish! The Premier Finish Line reserved box includes two Finish Line parking passes, two Steeplechase parking passes, 8 chairs, a table with linens and 4 paddock passes. Meals are not included. You may bring your own tailgate or enjoy a catered lunch by The Classic Catering People (catering information available soon). Box holders are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2012 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Availability is extremely limited.

Finish Line Box | $500 per box

Cheer for the jockeys as they run down the stretch. A reserved Finish Line box includes one Finish Line parking pass, two Steeplechase parking passes, 8 chairs, a table with linens and 2 paddock passes. Meals are not included. You may bring your own tailgate or enjoy a catered lunch by The Classic Catering People (catering information available soon). Box holders are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2012 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Availability is extremely limited.

Backstretch Lawn Box | $1,500 per box

These open-air Lawn Boxes are a great way to enjoy the day with your family and friends. Includes 2 Railside parking passes, 12 Backstretch parking passes, 12 chairs and 2 tables with linens. Meals are not included. You may bring your own tailgate or enjoy a catered lunch by The Classic Catering People (catering information available soon). Box holders are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2012 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Availability is extremely limited.

Railside Parking | $350 per space

Includes one parking spot located railside on the backstretch and turn. Parkers are invited to participate in The Legacy Tailgate Competition. Guests will have renewal rights for The 2012 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Limited spaces are available.

Steeplechase Parking | $100 per pass

Includes general admission and premier parking on the crest of the Shawan Downs hill. Price includes parking and admission to the event for the carload of guests — you only need a pass to park on the grounds, no admission fee beyond parking.

Chairman's Tent Tickets | $150 per person

Includes lunch and spirits in a Hospitality Tent on Founders Hill and one parking pass. Classic Catering will once again be catering these tents — get your tickets now to be a part of this fun-filled and delicious experience.

The Meadows Tickets

Join us in our family-friendly destination and enjoy not only the races, but all the exciting activities as well. The Meadows features children’s crafts, petting farm, live band, food options and much more!

Price includes parking and admission for the carload of guests to the event — you only need a pass to park on the grounds, no admission fee beyond parking.

The Meadows General | $30 per pass

A great way to enjoy the races and The Meadows for an inexpensive day. Spaces are smaller and no pop-up tents are allowed.

The Meadows Premier | $100 per pass

Parking in the rows closest just beyond the Meadows View. Spaces are larger and allow for better tailgating and one pop-up tent.

Meadows View | $200 per pass

Get a front row view of The Meadows activities. Spaces are larger, excellent for tailgating and provide enough room for one pop-up tent.

No golf carts, mopeds, dirt bikes, 3-wheelers or other motorized recreational vehicles are permitted.

Volkswagen Passat 2.5LS Car Raffle

As part of The Legacy Chase each year, a new car raffle is held. The 2011 raffle was on a two-year lease for a new 2012 Passat 2.5LS. Just ONE ticket (#04893)is all it took for Winner, Mr. William Franswick!

Drawing was held at the Legacy Chase event — Saturday, September 24, 2011. Cash prize in lieu of car is $10,000.(Winner need not be present to win.)

Stick Pony Race

The G. Leslie Grimes Memorial Stick Pony Race is a highly anticipated event and is a fan-favorite for the kids and the audience. All children 8 and under are invited to become jockeys and must provide their own stick pony. Don’t have one? You can make one at The Meadows! New in 2011, you can register in advance and help us support the GBMC Pediatric Emergency Department by raising pledge money.
